On Safari in Masai Mara
February 28, 2009
We made the seven hour drive Monday from KIST to Fig Tree Camp in Masai Mara. The game park is 800 square miles and arguably one of the best parks in Africa. Charlie and his two drivers (younger brother and nephew) were amazing, taking us to parts south, east, and west in the park. The roof of the van is designed to pop open to allow one to stand while still providing shade overhead. I loved riding through the park just standing and watching the landscape and the animals.
We were really fortunate to see all of the Big Five: Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, and Rhino. Also caught a glimpse of some hippos and a cheetah amongst others. An unbelievable experience that pictures only begin to capture. I’ve added notes on some of the pictures. Click on any of them for a larger view (and click again for even larger).
